5 Things To Avoid If You Are Trying To Conceive

Margaret Solace

Trying to conceive can be a little daunting and frustrating at times, especially if you are tired of doing too many things with negative results. It is the joy of every couple to conceive naturally without the struggles of “trying to” conceive.

Some people are infertile due to natural causes, injuries or infections. It could also be the result of some bad habits you are not aware of. These habits can stop fertilization or even prevent a foetus from growing. Check out some things you should avoid if you are trying to conceive.

1. Caffeine

Reduce your caffeine intake, let go of that coffee or try as much as possible to reduce it. Caffeine has often been associated with infertility and miscarriage, so you should be careful.

2. Poor oral hygiene

This can affect the sperm count in men and can increase the risk of having a premature delivery. So, if you have poor oral hygiene, you should make adjustments.

3. Alcohol

Alcohol is a leading cause of miscarriages during the early stages of pregnancy. It could also be the reason you find it difficult to conceive. Doctors often advise pregnant women to strictly stay away from alcohol.

4. Herbal products

If you have been using too many herbal products, maybe for weight gain or loss or for anything at all, it is time to let them rest.

5. Smoking

Smoking is just the same as alcohol. The nicotine in tobacco interferes with estrogen. Normal estrogen levels reduce as we age and smoking makes it even worse. This may, thus, interfere with conception.
