Enugu Rangers have signed the Nigerian Professional Football League leading scorer, Israel Abia, from Sunshine Stars.
The Easterners have struggled both in the NPFL and the continent this season, sitting second from bottom in both the league and the CAF Confederations Cup.
In a desperate bid to try and rescue their crumbling season, the Flying Antelopes have secured the signing of the poacher who has netted seven times this season.
“I am very happy to be here in Rangers to contribute my quota towards seeing that we end the season on a high,” said Abia, who incidentally began his career in Enugu.
The seven-time NPFL champions also signed Kano Pillars defender, Ifeanyi Nweke, who also started out in Enugu.
“We are glad to have Israel and Nweke here with us,” Rangers general manager, Davidson Owumi, said.
“Personal terms have been agreed upon while we have also settled with their former clubs.
“I am sure that their coming with that of four others will to a very large extent enhance our push for a top finish this season.”
Both players could feature for Salisu Yussuf's side in the 'Oriental Derby' on Sunday against Abia Warriors at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
