Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, will not be present at the 2022 FIFA World Cup second round draws tomorrow, with Nigeria set to be represented by a Nigeria Football Federation official.

The German gaffer, who is out of contract with his employers in June, will not be witnessing the draws live, as NFF General Secretary, Muhammad Sanusi, has been assigned to attend.

The draws will hold on Tuesday, 21 January, at the Nile Ritz-Carlton, Cairo, Egypt, by 19.00 (local time).

The pots

Pot 1: Algeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Ghana, Egypt, Cameroon, Mali, Congo DR.

Pot 2: Burkina Faso, South Africa, Guinea, Uganda, Cabo Verde, Gabon, Benin, Zambia, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire.

Pot 3: Madagascar, Mauritania, Libya, Mozambique, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Niger, Central African Republic, Namibia, Guinea-Bissau.

Pot 4: Malawi, Angola, Togo, Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Liberia, Djibouti.

The second round of qualifiers, which will involve the top 26 ranked teams on the continent and the 14 that qualified from the first round, is set to commence in March 2020 and will come to an end in October 2021.

The 40 teams will be split into 10 groups, with the ten group winners qualifying for the third and final phase of qualification. The ten group winners will then be drawn into five two-legged knockout ties to be played in November 2021.
