The Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo Central Senatorial District stood up en masse after a meeting held at Uromi asking for a slot to produce the next governor of the state in the forth coming primary election of the party.
Mr Hilary Ekhoye, Mr Richard Okosun, Mr John Yakubu, and some other PDP leaders, addressed journalists at the occasion.
They said they rose to ask for the next governorship slot because the post had eluded them for the past 22 years.
Mr Hilary Ekhoye said, the meeting held at Uromi is to produce the next governor of Edo state. He request the support of other senatorial district to join the Edo central in what they asked for.
“No other position will be accepted to the people of Edo Central,” said Ekhoye.
The Edo Central’s demand is coming a week after Afemai of the North Senatorial district asked for the post of deputy governor in the coming election.
A governorship aspirant of the party, Mr Gideon Ikhine, said that Edo state comprises of North, South, and Central Senatorial districts and that the PDP in Edo Central has always won elections for the party.
