Mercy Johnson's new movie, 'Legend of Inikpi', is finally out in cinemas and she is glad that she pushed through with the production.
According to the Nollywood actress, the decision to make 'Legend of Inikpi' did not come easy because of its genre. Even her manager thought it best to do comedy but she was determined to push through with the epic tale because she wanted to tell the story.
She disclosed this after the screening of the film at its movie premiere, which held at the Filmhouse Cinemas, IMAX, on Sunday, January 19, 2020, in Lekki.
She said, "Making this movie, when I chose an epic story, I was extremely scared because usually with us here, we like it flashy and we like comedy.
"My manager said, 'You should have done a comedy, everybody thinks you're funny.'
"And I said, 'No. I want to tell our stories. I want to do something different.'
"And I'm so grateful that this came out well."
'Legend of Inikpi' is an epic drama inspired by true events which occurred in Igala and Benin Kingdoms.
