Despite the dropped points against MFM FC at the Agege Stadium in Lagos on Sunday, Plateau United head coach, Abdu Maikaba, insists his side is still aiming to win the NPFL title.

Plateau United avoided a fourth successive loss away from home but that wasn't enough to stop them from slipping into the second position following Lobi Stars' 2-1 home win against Nasarawa United.

The Peace boys were clearly the better side for much of the match at the Soccer temple but their wastefulness in front of the goal denied them all the three points.

Although Coach Maikaba was disappointed with the outcome, he spoke positively about what could be an invaluable one point in the course of the season.

"My boys played very well But we didn't take our chances. We couldn't score and in the end the game finished 0-0, we thank God for the one point we've got,” he stated.

Plateau were the top side before the matchweek 17 Sunday kick-offs. They were, however, displaced at the submit by Lobi Stars but Coach Maikaba insists the goal of winning the league title remains the same for his side.

"The dropped points doesn't change the objective, we are not even halfway into the league, so, to me this is a work in progress and we'd continue to correct our mistakes and see whether we will be away to get some valuable away results from the remaining games and I believe that will give us the trophy.

"I'm very sure that if we keep playing the way we are playing in the first round, I believe we will compete till the end,” he stated.

Plateau would play their next game at home against third-placed Rivers United before they engage in a double-header against Dakkada FC.
