Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to impose subsidy on sanitary towels.
The actor made this call on his Instagram page, where he expressed surprise at the amount of money Nigerian women spend on menstrual pads.
Read what he wrote below:
"The poverty in Nigeria is too much, girls and women should pay less to getting menstrual pads... 🤷♀️🤷♀️The cost of menstrual pad in Nigeria remains the highest in west #Africa, why? 🤷♀️If you go to #Ghana or any other west African #country, ✈️you will be shocked to know that #Naija women pay more for menstrual pads. How can something that used to go for 200 Naira or less, is now getting to 500 Naira in some part of #Lagos and #Abuja, this is wrong, i am the only popular #actor in #Nigeria that has ever gotten the attention of @chrissyteigen in #Hollywood, 🎬and on behalf of the association of responsible #boyfriends and concerned brothers in Naija, i call on President #Buhari to put subsidy on menstrual pads for women because so many #girls in the #rural areas of Nigeria whose parent are poor can not afford it.”
