Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford, has welcomed Bruno Fernandes to the club ahead of the Portuguese midfielder's arrival.

Rashford took to Twitter to share his delight after the club confirmed that an agreement had been reached with Sporting Lisbon for the attacking midfielder.

United and Sporting have been locked in negotiations for weeks but both clubs eventually reached an agreement on a fee and the mode of payment Wednesday.

The 25-year-old was spotted at the airport on Friday before uploading a video moments later bidding Sporting Lisbon fans goodbye.

With the news of the transfer already out, coupled with the video by the Portugal International, United management was left with no option than to announce the deal.

It was under his team's tweet that Rashford welcomed his soon to be teammate. Rashford wrote: "Welcome Bruno" along with the 'hands in the air' smiley.

United players have been in dire need of an attacking midfielder like Fernandes, having struggled to create chances in recent games.

The Red Devils have had to deal with an injury to the team's most creative player, Paul Pogba, with the Frenchman suffering a recurring ankle injury which has seen him miss most part of the season.

Scott McTominay, who was also pivotal to United at the start of the season, also suffered an injury that has kept him out for almost two months while Mata, Lingard and Periera have been unconvincing so far.

Meanwhile, Solskjaer's men defeated Champions, Manchester City, 1-0 in the second leg semi-final of the Carabao cup but it wasn't enough to get them through after losing the first leg 3-1 and Old Trafford.
