Three people were feared dead following the police clash with motorcycle riders in Lagos State over the ban of motorcycles a few days ago.

Recall, the Lagos State Government, on Monday, enforced the ban on commercial motorcycles and tricycles in six local government areas in the state.

According to reports, the clash occurred on Monday morning at the Ijora Olopa area of Lagos State. The unfortunate clash was said to have claimed three lives and led to the destruction of cars and property.

There was an exchange of gunshots. Bonfires were also set up in the middle of the road by angry motorcycle riders and other motorists were prevented from passing.

The clash lasted until 4 pm on Monday. Some cars and buses were reported to have made a reverse off the affected road to look for alternative routes in and out of Apapa, as the road leading out of the area towards Nigerian Breweries was fully blocked by the clash.

Lagosians have expressed their grievances over the ban of motorcycles and tricycles in strategic areas, with many calling for the ban to be called off.
