The 2020 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon has come and gone, with the East Africans once again dominating the podium.

David Barmasai Tumo and Sharon Jemutai Cherop, both from Kenya won in the male and female categories while Nigerian couple, Emmanuel Gyang and Deborah Pam, became the first indigenes of the country to cross the finish point.

$70,000 each will go to the Kenyans for winning their categories and setting new records while the Nigerian couple will get 6million naira (3million each).

But away from the money and keeping with our tradition after every Lagos City Marathon event, we take a look at some of the best scenes you might have missed from the event but were captured on camera.

1. Awon East African Geng

What is a marathon without our brothers and sisters from Kenya, Ethiopia, Burundi and the rest of East Africa?

2. The Big 'Wigs'

The Governor of Lagos, the Chairman and directors of Access Bank and other high profile personalities were also in attendance. Guess what? They only ran 6km. You know they need to be able to go to work on Monday.

3. Cheerleaders

Those cheerful souls whose race started and ended in one spot. They kept advertising their smiles and shaking their backside. I wonder how that was supposed to inspire me to run 😏😏.

5. Just Running For Fitness Club AKA On My Own Pace Geng

At 1 pm, some people were still coming into Eko Atlantic. That's like five hours after the race began. We thank God that they didn't fall by the wayside and were able to finish.

6. The Future Stars?

Every year, we keep hoping a Nigerian would win this race. Well, while I don't think that would happen anytime soon, this might just be the young chaps to do it in the future. Amen???
