New Super Eagles assistant coach, Joseph Yobo, has expressed his delight after getting the job with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Yobo was announced as Gernot Rohr's new assistant on Wednesday, replacing Imama Amapakabo in the technical crew of the West Africans.

Following the appointment, the ex-international who represented Nigeria 101 times, has taken to his social media pages to express his delight for the new role.

“Delighted to announce my appointment as the new assistant coach of the Super Eagles,” the Everton legend wrote on Instagram.

“I'm honoured to be given this opportunity to serve. I'm ready and looking forward to this new chapter.

“I'm grateful to God. I thank you all for your overwhelming love and support since this announcement, it means a lot.”

As an active player, Yobo represented Nigeria at three World Cups and six African Nations Cups and was captain of the Super Eagles team that won the continental title in 2013.

He is expected to be on the dugout with the rest of the crew when Nigeria hosts Sierra Leone on March 23 for the 2021 AFCON qualifier.
