Amotekun Bill Returns For Passage On Wednesday

Funsho Akinwale

Operation Amotekun, the southwest security outfit, will be passed to law on Wednesday by all the six states involved, as the conclusion of the process begins today.

The new development is coming after a meeting of speakers and attorney-generals of the states was held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

At the meeting, they made observations, suggestions and cleared conflicting areas identified during the public hearings.

“From tomorrow (today), we will start considering the suggestions and recommendations of individuals and groups from the public hearing.

“By Wednesday latest, we will pass the bill and send to the governor for his assent.

“Having concluded the public hearing on the bill a week ago, and the document gone through reconciliation and harmonisation in Ibadan by all the Southwest Speakers, Majority Leaders and attorney-generals among others, it was resolved that each state assembly should pass the Bill into law on Tuesday (tomorrow),” Owoeye stated while speaking on behalf of the speakers.
