The North London club will be looking to improve their squad for next term after what has been a dismal 2019/2020 season.

Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur, ate in pole position in the race to sign English midfielder of Nigerian descent, Eberechi Eze, according to ‘The Sun UK.’

Jose Mourinho is already planning a rebuild at Spurs ahead of next season, and the Anglo-Nigerian youngster is one of the players that could be brought in.

According to reports, Eze was one of the players in the plans of former Spurs manager, Mauricio Pochettino, before he was eventually sacked, and current boss, Jose Mourinho, has given his go-ahead for the deal to happen.

The Queens Park Rangers number 10 has been in fine form for the championship club this season and has attracted interest from Premier League clubs.

Sheffield United and Crystal Palace were rumoured to be interested in signing the 21-year-old but have been laid back by the mooted transfer fee which is said to be around £20m, which Spurs are said to be willing to pay.

Eze, whose International career is also undecided, has one year left after this season from the three-year deal which he signed in 2018.

The Greenwich-born footballer, who has been likened to Jay-Jay Okocha, had played 37 games in the championship this season, scoring 12 goals and assisting more.

He currently represents England at youth level but could still play for Nigeria through his parents and the Nigeria Football Federation has been holding talks with him and his family in an attempt to convince him to represent the West African nation.
