A 3-year-old child was rescued from the debris of a building which collapsed during the Abule-ado explosion on Sunday.

The young girl, who has simply been identified as Favour, was rescued from the wreckage on Sunday night by operatives of the Red Cross Nigeria who were at the scene of the unfortunate incident.

Speaking to the media on Monday, the chairman of Red Cross Nigeria, Adebowale Kolawole, stated: “We recovered her naked under the debris of a building.

“Actually that was what we wanted to so that the mother would be at rest psychologically so that it will not add to the pains that the mother is going through in order to save her life, and as soon as possible we are taking her to go see her mother at the Naval hospital. She is favour and God has favoured her.”

It was a black Sunday in Lagos on Sunday morning, with the explosion claiming the lives of about 20 people and injuring many others after a gas pipeline exploded in the area.
