Enyimba players and Abia Comets footballers, Dayo Ojo and Benjamin Iluyomade, have reportedly been kidnapped, while Emmanuel James only managed to escape.

The news of the kidnapping of the football stars comes just a few hours after the deaths of Enugu Rangers forward, Ifeanyi George, and two other people were confirmed by the LMC.

George was involved in a ghastly accident while on his way to Lagos following the suspension of the NPFL games due to the coronavirus outbreak. His car rammed into a truck which was parked by the side of the road.

While the Nigerian footballing space was still morning the deaths of those three, the news of the kidnapping of the Aba-based club players filtered into Twitter through multiple sources.

The three players were said to have been attacked by the kidnappers this afternoon while on their way to Akure following the suspension of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Both Ojo, a Nigerian international, and Benjamin were abducted by the kidnappers at Ipele town, after Ifon in Ondo State.
