Enugu Rangers’ Ifeanyi George Killed In Road Crash

Enugu Rangers forward and assistant captain, Ifeanyi George, has been confirmed dead after he and two other people were involved in a car crash on Sunday morning.

The Nigerian international reportedly died on the spot while his friend and a Rangers B-team member who rode with him were left in a critical state.

Rangers have confirmed the tragic news of the demise of the striker, with fans and followers of the club already sending their condolences even as they hope for good news about the other people.

Happenings gathered the unfortunate incident happened around Abudu on Benin-Agbor Expressway while the three were driving to Lagos following the suspension of the Nigerian top-flight due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The 26-year-old car crashed into a stationary truck which was parked by the side of the road and the vehicle was destroyed beyond recognition.

George joined the Flying Antelopes in 2017 and scored his first goal for the Enugu-based side in a Nigerian Professional Football League outing against Kano Pillars on April 23, 2017.

The pacy and powerful forward made his first appearance for the Nigerian African Nations Championship qualifier against Benin Republic.
