With the summer sun out in full force, we need cool yet nutritious snacks and sometimes breakfast to get us through the heat. And what is more nutritious than a cool yogurt parfait, especially if you are team fitfam?
“Parfait” is a French word that means perfect, and with this light yet delicious dish, perfection certainly comes to mind.
The dish is a frozen dessert of two types. In France, where the dish originated, the parfait is made by steaming cream, egg, sugar and syrup to create a custard-like puree and freezing for about 6 hours or preferably overnight.
However, the easy to make, ready to eat summer delight that has caught and kept our attention is the American version, which has such ingredients as granola, nuts, yogurt and a combination of fruits and sometimes chocolates.
Although it sounds fancy and difficult to make, this yogurt dish is super simple and you can use whatever yogurt, fruit and nut that you desire. Yogurt Parfait is made of layers of yogurt and fresh or frozen fruit topped with granola or nuts of your choice.
