The former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has revealed that his son has tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate at the 2019 election announced the news on his social media page, as he asked Nigerians to put his son in prayers.
Atiku stated that his son has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management by the NCDC (Nigeria Centre for Disease Control).
"My son has tested positive for coronavirus,” the 73-year-old politician wrote on his verified page Twitter page.
"The @NCDCGov has been duly informed, and he has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management. I will appreciate it if you have him in your prayers. Stay safe, coronavirus is real,” he tweeted.
Recall that on Sunday, the Federal Ministry of Health announced that the confirmed cases in Nigeria had increased to 30, although two of those were said to have fully recovered and had been discharged.
It is unknown at this time if Atiku's son was among the 30 reported cases or was a new case. The Ministry of Health will give an update on the issue today, Monday.
