The Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo, is currently in self-quarantine amid the spread of the pandemic coronavirus in the country, as he conducted meetings via video conferencing and also observing social distance.
This was made known by Laolu Akande, who is the Senior Special Assistant-Media and Publicity to Vice Osinbajo, in a tweet via his verified twitter handle.
He said, “VP Osinbajo yesterday at the office conducted his meetings via video conferencing, while observing social distancing.”
Akande’s statement came after reports that the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Abba Kyari, had tested positive for the coronavirus.
Although, it is unclear whether Mr Osinbajo’s self-quarantine is related to news of Mr Kyari’s positive case, yet the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC), and various health organizations have continued to advise Nigerians to self-quarantine, especially if they just returned from a foreign trip.
The NCDC chief, Chikwe Ihekweazu, On Monday, stressed that the threat facing the country is majorly that the coronavirus comes from those coming in from outside its borders.
