The globally renowned Islamic cleric, Mohammad Tawhidi, popularly known as ‘Imam of Peace’, on Friday, dragged the Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, over the video of him speaking on the coronavirus pandemic and for his incompetence.
On Sunday, President Buhari addressed Nigerians in a less than a minute video after several shouts on and offline for the Nigerian president to address the country on the global pandemic which has since found its way into the country.
The speech was heavily criticised on social media, especially the president's pronunciation of the other name of the virus, COVID-19.
Since that speech, President Buhari has not addressed Nigerians in person, only through his and the government's social media handles, despite the confirmed cases in the country increasing daily.
This has caused many social critics to call out the president and now the renowned Islamic Imam, who had previously criticised Buhari, has joined in the attacks.
On his verified Twitter page on Friday afternoon, the popular Iranian-born cleric mocked the Nigerian president over his video while also tagging him a dictator and the dumbest person in Nigeria.
Tawhidi, who is based in Australia, also branded the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, a professional begger and terror-sympathizer while also blasting Tamim of Qatar for “thinking he is sexy.”
He alleged that the president has been enabling terrorism in order to remain in power, while also stating that the West African country will be more beautiful if it were not for Buhari.

Meanwhile, the Personal Assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has responded to the tweets. In his response, Ahmad urged Nigerians to ignore the Imam, as he is a coward who could not withstand the oppression in his own country.
“For those who are asking me to respond to @imamofpeace tweets, the guy lacks courage, he is no different from the usual coward, he has blocked me, so I won’t be able to see the nonsense he has been tweeting, those of you following him, kindly remind him of who he is, the COWARD!” Ahmad tweeted.
