The Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The governor revealed in a statement that he took a test for the infection earlier in the week and the result has come out positive.
In a video which was shared on the Kaduna State Government’s verified Twitter page, the governor said:
"Earlier this week, I submitted a sample for the COVID-19 test, I regret to inform you that it is positive. According to the protocols, I am in self-isolation. I appeal to the people of Kaduna state to observe preventive measures already announced," the governor said.
The governor further disclosed that his deputy, Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, who is also in charge of the state’s task force on COVID-19 would continue to issue statements from time to time.
A statement on the social media page also confirmed that the governor has gone into self-isolation as required by the guidelines of the NCDC for someone that is not showing symptoms.
