Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has become the latest high-profile Nigerian to test positive for the novel coronavirus.
The governor revealed his status to his followers on Twitter in a tweet he shared on Monday evening.
“I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate,” Makinde wrote on the microblogging platform.
The governor also revealed that he has assigned the former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, to head the COVID-19 Task Force in the state.
"I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully. Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe,” he tweeted.
