216 new confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the country, according to the official figures released by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 6,175, with 191 deaths, while 1,644 have recovered and have been discharged.
The novel coronavirus has infected 4.81 million people and claimed 319,000 lives across the globe.
In order to contain the spread of the virus, lockdowns have been enforced in many countries.
A lockdown was also enforced by the Federal Government of Nigeria on March 30 in three states, including, Lagos, Ogun and the FCT.
It was partially lifted on May 4 after the lockdown had been extended by two weeks, and reports now suggest that its gradual easing has been extended by another two weeks.
The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, also the Secretary of the Government of the Federation (SGF), made the announcement on Monday, May 18.
