Nigeria has recorded a total number of 10,162 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 307 new cases, 3,007 discharged and 289 deaths.

The new confirmed cases, according to the NCDC, were recorded in 15 states, including Lagos (188), FCT (44), Ogun (19), Kaduna (14), Oyo (12), Bayelsa (9), Gombe (5), Kano (3), Delta (3), Imo (2), Rivers (2), Niger (2), Bauchi (2), Plateau (1) and Kwara (1).

The Federal Government had, on March 30, 2020, imposed a 14-day lockdown on the FCT, Lagos and neighbouring Ogun State as part of its efforts to contain the spread of the virus.

The lockdown was eased on May 4 after a 14-day extension. On May 18, the government extended the easing of the lockdown by another two weeks.

Thus, the restrictions on interstate movement, social and religious gatherings along with the 8 pm to 6 am curfew imposed nationwide remained in place.

The extension expires today and many are now waiting for the president's next line of action, as the number of coronavirus cases in the country continues to rise.
