Nigeria has recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases in a day since the index case was confirmed in Lagos on February 27, 2020.
The official figures published by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) indicate that 663 new confirmed cases were recorded late Wednesday night, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 13,464, with 365 deaths and 4,206 discharged.
This makes Nigeria the third African country with the highest number of COVID-19 cases after South Africa (52,991) and Egypt (36,829).
With 6,065 cases, Lagos remains the state with the highest number of cases in the country, followed by Kano and the FCT at 1,020 and 1,012 respectively.
