The music business is no joke. It can transform any young man into a multi-millionaire, pulling crowds all over the world. This is one of the reasons why people delve into music, besides the passion and fulfillment they get from it. Music artist, Zadok, talks to Gold Nne about his journey into music so far.

How long have you been into music?

Professionally and officially, that will be four years. Though I started singing with my mum while I was little. She used to carry me along to choir practice. I was like 9/10. I've been doing music for a long time. I have a single out actually. It is titled "Good day."

Why did you start music professionally? What was your aim?

Because I have a passion for music. Well, I grew up listening to a lot of musicians like Michael Hudson etc. I had a passion for music. I started singing then and everyone would say, "Oh! He's got the voice!" So, I had to start a career.

On this show, I find out that many persons get into music because of passion. What about the gratification? What about money? How do you make money from your music?

That's very important, too, because you need money to do music, most especially in this part of the world. If it was the western part of the world, you could just put out your record and you get many views from many other platforms. But in Nigeria, you need to have money to do music properly. There's a place where the passion can take you and there's a place where you have to invest in music. Of course, I have the passion to sing, and yes, I want to make money out of my record. So there's a line between it.

How long do you think you have to invest your passion before you start seeing the financial return?

Passion has to be from you, because anything you have passion in, you can strive for. But passion will not give you money. You have to bring the business part of it into use, so that you can generate money for yourself or you get frustrated. That's when people get frustrated and start saying they are not making it
