Can't tell if your first date is going well? Here, find five signs of a good first date.
First dates should be fun and exciting. But because they are unpredictable, you may be a tad nervous, especially if you are on a date with someone you are smitten with. You may begin to wonder if that date is going as great as you planned or if it is a complete disaster. Here, find five signs that you are having an incredible first date.
1. They are not distracted
Your date is not distracted by their phone. They are not fiddling with their phone keypads while you are trying to have a conversation with them. They do not respond in monosyllables or with "Uh huh!"' or "Mmmh!" when you ask a question. They do not constantly check their wristwatch for the time or go to the ladies/gents every other second. They are not shifting their weight from one foot to the other like they cannot wait to get out of there.
2. They are genuinely interested in you
If your date leans forward to listen to you, laughs when you say something funny, nods in agreement when you make a point, asks questions to follow up on something you just said, wants to hear about those things that are important to you, responds each time you ask a question and is not just blabbing, they are genuinely interested in you and you can tell for sure that you are having a great first date.
3. They suggest meeting again
You know your first date is going well and you are on your way to a second date if they talk about meeting again, even without saying the words. Your date is enjoying your company and wants to see you again if they share their hobbies or interests as well as favourite places with you and suggest doing these things or visiting these places together.
4. They handle first date obstacles pretty well
When your date is polite to the waiters and is not easily ruffled by something unexpected, like the bartender spilling a drink, someone getting in their way, you are definitely on a great first date. But you are on a bad first date if your date constantly complains about something or someone, is rude while making orders and is far from polite while talking to strangers.
Also, if your date arrives late and shrugs it off without as much as an apology or if for some reason you arrive late and your date flies off the handle, you are off to a bad start and you are not likely to enjoy spending time with this person.
5. You have a lot of things in common
When you have a lot in common - interests, pursuits, favourite books, movies, music and games, you are never short of things to talk about. You will have so much fun talking about the things you love that you will probably not realize that the night is far gone. Plus, there is just this feeling of excitement you have once you learn that you and your date follow the same Instagram pages, watch the same TV shows, read the same books or love the same actors.
