Buhari Makes Surprise Visit to Shagari’s Home, To Immortalize The Late President

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday, December 30, 2018, made a surprise condolence visit to the home of former President Shehu Shagari in Sokoto State.

Buhari during the visit said plans are underway to immortalize the country’s first executive President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari.

Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambual, was on the ground to receive the president read Buhari’s letter to the Shagari’s family.

The President in his letter said Shagari was a landmark figure being virtually the last link to the post-independent government of Alhaji Tafawa Balewa.

“This is indeed, is a grievous loss, which will be felt throughout the country, Buhari added.

Shehu Shagari died on December 28, 2018, after a brief illness. Until his death, aged 93 and died in his country home in Sokoto State.
