A High Court sitting in Maitama in Abuja reinstated Jerry Gana as the rightful Presidential candidate for Social Democratic Party(SDP).

Jubilation and excitement hit the camp of Jerry Gana after the court ruling on Friday which favored the celebrated professor.

The party had declared Donald Duke, a former governor of Cross River State as the winner of the presidential primary election held on October 6, 2018.

Donald Duke reportedly polled 812 votes, while Gana got 611.

Gana who felt cheated, headed to court seeking to be announced the winner with zoning and rotation formula of the party’s constitution.

Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf in his ruling on Friday said that the regulations contained in the party’s constitution were binding on every member and must be obeyed.

After several deliberations, he, however, declared Gana winner of the Presidential primary election conducted on October 6, 2018.

He also declared Duke’s vote 812 as null and void. And asked the party to forward Gana’s name to INEC as the party’s presidential candidate.

He also ordered Duke to stop parading himself as the Presidential candidate of the party.

The latest crisis is coming two days after Donald Duke’s running mate, Junaid Muhammed quit from the race. Junaid reportedly stepped down claiming several crises in the party.
