A Federal High Court sitting in Oshogbo has sentenced a former lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Richard Obafemi Akindele to two years imprisonment.
Akindele on Monday finally sent to jail after several months of investigation and deliberations.
Before the final judgment, the former lecturer had reportedly changed his plea from not guilty to guilty.
Leading to the ruling, Shogunle Adenekan, the prosecutor in charge revealed that all parties involved in the case have all reached a plea bargain and pleaded for a suspended sentence for the embattled lecturer.
Akindele’s problems started when a postgraduate student, Monica Osagie exposed the sex advances from the professor.
Monica, to buttress her claim released the video of the love drama and their conversations on social media.
In the purported video, Akindele agreed to pass the student to grade A mark in exchange for a sexual favor.
The revelation, however, led to the school authority dismissing the lecturer from the school and handed him to ICPC for prosecution.
