Woman, what’s in your Bag?

Joy Bewaji

A woman’s bag carries some of her best secrets, right? Brand strategist and CEO Core Brand Nigeria, Sarah Akere, let’s us into that secret place. See what we found…and more!

What can we find in your bag?
The bag I am currently carrying is my Louis Vuitton Speedy 35. I have had this bag for over 5 years. It was a gift from me, to me five Christmases ago. It’s easy to just throw my stuff in it and run out of the house! I also have the Louis Vuitton Alexander wallet for my cards, money and my keys to fit into.
My iPhone and iPad follow me where ever I go because I have to make and receive calls, plus I’m always online researching or browsing. I have my favourite perfume this season and that’s Tom Ford white patchouli.

I have baby wipes from Johnson and Johnson, hand sanitizers, pocket tissues and hand cream. These I can’t leave the house without because I’m careful about germs. I have my prescription glasses and my sunglasses too, my notebook with a pen inside of it to write out my plans. I can do that on my phone or iPad but I love writing down plans and ticking them off once achieved.
I have my Black Up powder and Clinique lip gloss just in case I need a touch up.
Finally, I am reading The Help, a wonderful book by Kathryn Stockett. It’s about African American maids who worked in White households in Jackson, Mississippi in the 1960’s.

What’s your basic beauty secret?
I have a million beauty secrets because I am passionate about skincare! The most important one for me is hydration. I drink lots of water and try my best to eat right. I cleanse my face morning and night. I use a sonic face brush to wash up my face since I get a deeper clean than when I use my hands. Next, I use a toner and then a serum before my spf day cream or moisturizing night cream. It all depends on the time of day. I exfoliate my face and body three times a week and use a facial mask whenever I exfoliate my face. I use various products as a beauty junkie but my current favorites are Clarins and Estée Lauder. They have both worked for me like magic.

What’s your summer fantasy?
I would love to visit Paris with my parents and siblings. Family is everything to me. I imagine going to parks, museums, taking tour of the city and going shopping with them. It’s been years since we all travelled together so that will be a perfect summer vacation for me.
