We celebrate eminent personality  General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (Rtd) this day December 9

Lt. Gen. Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (Rtd.) GCON is a former Nigerian soldier, politician and multi-millionaire businessman and philanthropist.

He is the Chairman and Founder of the TY Danjuma Foundation. He is from Takum Local Government area in Taraba State. Lt. Gen. Danjuma had an illustrious career in the Nigerian army (July 1975 to October 1979) before retiring as Chief of Army Staff. He was also Minister of Defence under Olusegun Obasanjo. Danjuma is chairman of South Atlantic Petroleum (SAPETRO).

Danjuma was born in Takum, Taraba State (formally Gongola), Nigeria to Kuru Danjuma and Rufkatu Asibi.

He attended Benue Provincial Secondary School in Katsina and later enrolled at the Nigerian College of Arts Science and Technology in Zaria (Ahmadu Bello University) to study History on a Northern Nigeria Scholarship. However by the end of 1960, Danjuma had left university to enroll with the Nigerian Army.

He retired from the Nigerian army in 1979.

It is his impressive track record of philanthropic giving that culminated in the establishment of the TY Danjuma Foundation.

The  77 year old renowned personality was born December 9.
