1901 – UK 1901 Great Britain Queen Victoria passed away in the Osborne House on the Isle of Wight at age 81. She had become queen when she was 18 and had ruled for nearly 64 years of her life. She was succeeded by Prince Edward VII, her oldest son, who was 59 years old at the time, and reigned for nine years until his death.
1837 – Earthquake in southern Syria kills thousands
1964 – World’s largest cheese (15,723 kg) was manufactured in Wisconsin.
2012 – In northern Nigeria 11 people were killed overnight in an attack in Bauchi state. It was reported that two churched in the northern Nigerian city had been struck by explosion. Worship places were completely destroyed.
2014 – In northern Nigeria thousands of protesters threw stones into the Shariah court in Bauchi city, urging the speedy convictions and executions of 11 men arrested for belonging to gay organizations.
U.S 1973 – The legalization of abortion within the first three months of pregnancy was allowed as of this day. This decision was based on a ruling by the Supreme Court upon adjournment of the Roe Vs. Wade Case that women had a constitutional right to obtain an abortion.
