Partying the night away at KultureCentrik an event put together in collaboration with Massimo in celebration of culture yesterday, September 29, at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos with distinguished artisans, renowned personalities, friends and fans gracing the occasion, the celebration continues for the outstanding film maker Kunle Afolayan as he clocks 42 today!
The renowned film maker is the son of Nigeria’s foremost theatre director and producer late Adeyemi Josaih Afolayan also known as Ade Love , evidently with the creative blood flowing, his siblings Gabriel Afolayan, and Aremu Afolayan are also in the entertainment industry and have also made a name for themselves.
Before hitting the limelight, the graduate of Economics, worked in the banking sector but passion gave way and he decided to juggle both acting and the banking worlds. In 1998, He featured in Tunde Kelani’s movie Saworoide in and in 2005, many thanks to a brave decision, he later quit his job at the bank which has obviously paid off real good.
The respected filmmaker known for his brilliant works such as; Irapada, The Figurine, Phone Swap and October 1, is proudly a recipients of multiple prestigious awards.
The multiple award-winning actor cum film director recently received major backlash following Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg’s meeting with entrepreneurs in the country August 30. Kunle Afolayan decided to seek advice/ assistance as regards challenges which the Nigerian movie industry is currently battling with but his critics were not impressed calling him out for not channeling his complaints to Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari.
Kunle Afolayan is married with three kids.
