#NaijaChronicles: The Dynamics of Social Relationships

An unmarried couple is going to have sex tonight.

The man is going to love it.

If he’s a cretin, he’ll brag about it.

On the other hand, the lady on top of him riding to ecstasy (or under his weight pummeled to cloud nine) isn’t going to be as excited. Irrespective of the orgasms or pleasure she derives, she’d want more. That sexual exercise comes with a warning:

“Marry me. Or God will punish you.”

It’s in the water she pours in his glass after sex. The meal she cooks without coercion, after sex. The boxers she decides to wash after sex. The apartment she cleans and sweeps and mops after sex. And the religious music she plays to invite…um…the presence of God into their sinful heart to open the man’s eyes to see just how much of a wife material she is.

A wife material without a ring is automatically rags on the floor. Women propagate this even more than men. Living desperately on the edge of insanity that can only be cured by four words…

“Will You Marry Me?”

She gives as many hints to sway the relationship her way. It is called #BellaNaijaGoals.

Sex is not something she enjoys; God forbid that she would find pleasure from the exercise. She isn’t giving into sex because she enjoys it, she does it because, well, she “loves” him. So she says.

May this foolishness die somewhere between Generation Y and Z. May our daughters not inherit this warped thinking.

Can I hear an “Amen”?!

Sometimes it doesn’t matter if the dude can afford to buy a mattress or pay his PHCN bill, marriage is like the radio waves the female antenna receives.

If it isn’t elucidated during sex… she is going to feel used like a biscuit wrapper.

Women pause their lives and all the great things they can become just so an average bloke can put them in an apartment and bequeath her with a new surname.

There’s something about this that is very disturbing. This entire marriage troll.

Everything seems to have evolved except the perception of social relationship between a man and a woman.

It is still to the man’s glory that sex happens.

And it is to the woman’s credit that marriage finally occurs.

Hopefully we demystify this crap soon enough and get down to the basics of saving the world full of children made by irresponsible partners who couldn’t decide whether to build a sand castle or to have sex.
