#LagosBusChronicles 66

Hello… it’s Monday!

And usually Monday comes with its own peculiar drama.

I boarded a bus this morning at double the price,

To add insult to injury, the conductor and the driver said that we should sit in fives per row

That was how everybody in the bus turned into an activist

That notion was generally rejected by everybody.

When we started paying, a certain young man refused to pay the double price; he insisted that he was going to pay the normal price

The conductor started shouting; the driver too started shouting and it looked as if they were going to eat the guy raw

Let me take a minute to talk about the driver’s voice…

You know the croaking sound a frog makes just before it swallows a housefly? That is exactly how he sounded! I’m sure he cant sing to save his life!

Anyway, back to the story; all we passengers too joined in the shouting

The driver then parked on the Third Mainland Bridge and said he was not going anywhere until the fellow paid

The man paid and we continued our journey smoothly. When we got to the last bus stop, the driver refused to stop for us to alight; he kept on driving

The woman that sat beside him had to grab the steering wheel from him and threatened to lose control until he marched on the brake and allowed us alight.

I wonder why Mondays are always so extra…

Enjoy your day!
