Margaret Solace

Do you become restless till you eat a late night snack? Are you someone who wakes up in the middle of the night for something to eat but you still want to watch your diet? You might not be able to sleep till dawn because there is that tiny problem you refuse to deal with.

We’ve all been there! You check the time and it’s still 1:00 am and you are hungry. Here are healthy snacks you can grab for night cravings. We are not talking about plantain chips or fries. They contain fat and that’s the last thing you need late at night. Here are five healthy late night snacks you can try.

• Veggies

Yes, honey! Veggies have low calories in them and you still feel full for the night. Carrots, cucumber etc are best choices you can make for a late night snack.

• Plain Yoghurt and Cinnamon

Yoghurts are rich in probiotics and this is a friendly way to balance bacteria. Cinnamon helps curb cravings, and you get the best nutrient just for a late snack when you mix it with protein.

• Green Kiwi

Kiwi is helpful for a slow bowel. It contains protease enzyme called actinidine and this enzyme stimulates motility in the upper gastrointenstual tract. It also helps push waster from the intestines.

• Berries

Berries are fruits rich in glycemic. This glycemic has no huge effect on blood sugar. You might need to satisfy that sweet tooth. Berries are high in antioxidants, too, and you can eat them any time, day or night.

• Turkey

Turkey contains large amounts of tryptophan which contribute to making people tired. If you want a good diet and some rest, get yourself a turkey wrapped in little vegetable soup, not something as heavy as pounded yam or rice.
