Ladies! Look And Act Ladylike In These 8 Easy Steps

Our dressing says a great deal about who we are, the way we want to be addressed and how we view those we present ourselves too.

Dressing like a lady is a struggle for most Nigerian females as they sometimes link it to being a prude or think it will cost a fortune. and then mask it by saying they define their style.

Others draw our personalities based on the way we are dressed. So if you believe the opinions of those you want to meet do not matter, you have made that exact same impression with the way you are dressed.

So if you want to be ladylike in your dressing, even if you aren’t, here are some tips that will not break your bank:

1.Know What Is Appropriate

First things first, know your event.

Everyone generally gives a dress code for an event, be it a party, work, or church.

Understand that a line has been drawn and work within that line. For example, you may be able to wear jeans to work on Friday, but not ripped jeans.

If your company has a dress code, follow it.

2. Make Sure Your Clothes Fit

Think of everyone you consider a lady, picture how their clothes fit. Will people say the same thing when they think about your clothes fitting?

As a lady, if your clothes are too big or too small, they will never look good on you. Fit clothes do not translate into clingy clothes. It just implies that you know how to shop for your size.

These clothes do not only look pleasing to the eyes they give confidence as you don’t have to pull or drag at your clothes.

3. Get Regular Manicure And Pedicures

You do not have to visit the most expensive salon or fix your nails up with stick-on or acrylic, but you should endeavour to get your nails groomed professionally once a month. Always keep your nails clean at all times and ensure your nail polish is not chipped.

4. Do Not Over Accessorise

With accessories, less is more for a lady. Remember that accessories are accompaniments for your outfit and not your outfit.

Keep it practical when you can; beautiful earrings, a bracelet and a wristwatch. Do not wear a ring on every finger even if you sell rings.

5. Do Not Dress To Be Sexy

When you look at a lady the last thing you should think of is sex. Not because they are not attractive, but their dressing calls your attention to their carriage and confidence.

This will be undone if you dress to look sexy. Not only is wearing inappropriate clothing distracting, but it also gives off an inaccurate impression. Avoid the excessive exposure that comes with dressing sexy or provocatively.

6. Pay Attention To Your Bag

There is this skit about a woman on a bus who dressed and spoke like a lady. When it was time to alight, she claimed not to have change. In the process of arguing, the conductor dragged her bag from her and roasted corn and groundnut fell out.

A lady’s bag is always organized and selected based on her outfit and the occasion. It is also always clean and closed, no one needs to know it’s content.

7. Do Not Wear Strong Perfume

While it is important to smell nice, do not go overboard with your perfume. You should not smell a lady unless you go into her personal space.

A lady will leave a faint hint with her entrance and exit making you question whether or not it is her natural scent.

8. Wear Well-Kept, Polished Shoes

Shoes, they protect your feet and make for a good conversation starter. They do not have to be new or trendy but they have to be in good condition and clean/polished.

Ensure, like your clothes, that your shoes fit. They should not be too tight or to big, as this will affect the way you walk which will give an impression of your confidence.
