IBB stated this during a visit by President Jonathan to the former mlitary ruler’s country home in Minna, Niger State on Saturday,  in what some political analysts believe is a desperate move by the ruling PDP candidate to solicit support ahead of his re-election bid in 2015.

The President arrived Minna in a chopper that landed at the El-Amin International School, Minna, the family school of IBB, at the early hours of the morning after which his convoy drove to IBB’s residence, said his visit was a “father and son relationship”in the mood of the Yuletide season.

“Of course, you know that this is the end of the year. Within this period, people pay visits. So, I have come to visit him. You know, he just came back from a hospital abroad, not too long ago. Since he came back, we have not seen. I need to see my father to know how he is feeling. I am quite pleased the way I have seen him.

The President decribed General Babangida as a national leader whose counsel requird at such crucial time, as the country hinges towards the February 14, Presidential Election.

President Jonathan also seized the occasion to empatitise with Gen. Babangida as he marked the fifth anniversary of his wife’s passing.

Those who accompanied the President on the visit according to the Leadership Newspaper include; National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.); his Chief of Staff, Brig.-Gen. Jones Arogbofa (rtd.); Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Muhammed; former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, and the director-general of his presidential campaign and former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Ahmadu Ali, among others.
