Nigeria’s foremost business tycoon and philanthropist, Chief Molade Alexandria Okoya-Thomas is dead.
News of the billionaire’s demise filtered through social media Monday afternoon, though the family is yet to issue an official statement on the death of the business icon.
Reputable journalist and Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Chief Dele Momodu created a media buzz on the death of the famed businessman on Twitter at 01:21 GMT in these words:
“I’ve just received the sad news of the death of business Titan & sports enthusiast CHIEF MOLADE OKOYA-THOMAS; may his soul Rest in Peace.”
A trained account by profession, Chief Okoya-Thomas has been Chairman of CFAO Nigeria Limited and other notable business organisations.
Late Chief Okoya-Thomas was until his death, the Chancellor of Lagos State University.
A sports enthusiast, and former President of the Lagos Tennis Club, Chief Okoya-Thomas remained sole sponsor of the annual Asoju Oba Table Tennis Championships for more than four decades.
He was 79 years old.
