Ambode promises youths job creation

Fola Akintomide

Government candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Mr. Akinwumi A‎mbode, has assured Nigerians that the party is dedicated to emancipating the nation, especially its youths from the pang of joblessness and insecurity.

He said this yesterday at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, venue of ‎the 10, 000 Youths March for Ambode, organised by the Ambode Youth Initiative, a volunteer support group for his governorship ambition.

Ambode promised that his administration and that of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari are determined to change the fortunes of the younger generation for the better.

According to him, “We have started our campaigns, and I’m happy we have started with you, the youths. This project and campaign is for the youths, and we are in this together. This is because this ‎campaign, project and election is about Nigerian youths because we have had enough.”

He expressed gratitude to the 10, 000 youths saying: “At least, it is not that we put money in your pockets. You just decided that you will support us. I’m going to be the bridge between the elders and the youths. I’m going to give government back to the youths.”

In another development, Jonjude Okere, acclaimed winner of the primary election of the Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency on the platform of the Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has petitioned the national and state chairman of the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the substitution of his name as the party’s candidate in the 2015 election.

Okere alleged that having emerged from the primary as the choice candidate and being issued a certificate of return, a governorship aspirant influenced the state’s party chairman and went as far as asking the national chairman to replace his name with another aspirant’s.
