Boko Haram launch first attack on Chad

Boko Haram militants on Friday, February 13, launched their first attack on Chad.

The terrorists, numbering about 30, reportedly set houses on fire in Ngouboua village and killed 5 people.
They arrived in Chad from Nigeria, where the sect largely operates, on board three canoes.

“They came on board three canoes and succeeded in killing about 10 people before being pushed back by the army,” a resident told Reuters.

“The assailants have scattered and the army is now pursuing them,” Col. Azem Bermandoa of the Chadian army told The Associated Press.

Chad has deployed 2,500 to join a new multinational force, which includes soldiers from Cameroon and Niger, against Boko Haram.

The leader of the sect, Abubakar Shekau has threatened the leaders of all the countries involved and vowed to defeat the alliance.
