Taraba State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, has annulled the election of Governor Darius Ishaku, the candidate of People’s Democratic Party in the April 11 gubernatorial election.
Justice Danladi Abubakar, who chaired the three-man tribunal, declared Hajiya Aisha Alhassan of the All Progressives Congress winner of the election on the ground that there was no valid candidate on the ballot for the PDP.
The tribunal ordered immediate inauguration of Alhassan, also widely known as Mama Taraba, into office.
Alhassan and the APC have been challenging Ishaku’s victory on the premise that he was no qualified to stand in the election.
The tribunal was moved from Jalingo, Taraba State capital, to the Appeal Court building in Abuja.
The PDP has reportedly rejected the result, alleging another fowl play which follows the ruling in Akwa Ibom and Rivers States.
