The Lagos State Ministry Of Education has restated that all public schools in the state will resume the third term academic session as scheduled on Monday, April 11, 2016.

This was confirmed in a statement by the Assistant Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Education, Adesegun Ogundeji on Saturday.

New Update On Lagos Schools Resumption Date

His words: “Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Idiat Oluranti Adebule re- emphasised this fact against the backdrop of insinuations and rumours that the resumption date has been postponed.”  Ogundeji noted that the ministry recognised the fuel scarcity situation in the country.

The Deputy Governor, therefore, appealed to parents to look beyond the present situation and encourage the children to face their future with renewed vigour as the call for a shift in the resumption date will only distort the academic calendar.

“She urged proprietors of private schools, head teachers/ principals of public schools to do everything humanly possible to see that the school calendar runs uninterrupted,” it added.

It will be recalled some parents of students attending public schools in Lagos State had earlier appealed to the state government to shift the resumption date for the third term of the 2015/2016 Academic Session from April 11 due to the current fuel scarcity in the country.

The parents said the fuel situation in the country had persisted for too long and might affect the movements of their children to their various schools if the resumption date stayed.
