Popular singer and producer, Babatunde Jezreel Okungbowa a.k.a. OJB Jezreel passed on some hours ago on Tuesday morning, June 14, 2016. He was said to have suffered a relapse for about 2 weeks and family had to keep him on N35k dialysis before his need for oxygen yesterday.
He was aged 49.
In 2013, he had a kidney ailment for which he eventually received treatment in India after a much publicised fundraising by friends and colleagues. However, in 2015, the veteran Nigerian musician and producer was reported to have suffered a setback in his recovery from the kidney transplant; but he came forward to deny such reports.
OJB is one of the pioneers of the Nigerian music industry and was one of the first producers to also have a successful career as an artist.
His corpse has been deposited in a morgue at Isolo General Hospital in the state.
Jezreel is survived by 3 wives, June ‘Ama’, Korede, Mabel and 8 children.
Our prayers go out to his family. May God rest his soul.
