Tributes as Senator Isiaka Adeleke passes on at 62

The first executive governor of Osun state, and current APC senator, representing Osun West Senatorial district, Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, is dead.

Adeleke died today, Sunday, April 23 at the age of 62.

According to family sources, Adeleke suffered a heart attack and was rushed to Bikets Hospital, a private hospital in Osogbo where he was rushed to when he suddenly developed a serious crises last night.

Adeleke was a three-term senator was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015. He became the first elected Governor of Osun State in 1991 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party.

The death of the Senator sparked a riot in his hometown as irate youths protested his demise claiming he was murdered by his political opponents. The youth attacked some journalists at his home although some of them tried to calm the enraged youths.

Mourners including the youths and aged ones were seen wailing and rolling on the ground as they rain curses on those who they claimed poisoned him.

Some Imams are sighted at the premises which indicated that he might be buried very soon according to Islamic rights.

The senator was last seen at a function in Iwo, Osun state where he looked hale and hearty without any sign that he was ill.

Nigerians took to social media to react to Adeleke’s demise notable the senate president, Bukola Saraki, who prayed for the repose of the dead.

Mr. Adeleke’s colleague in the Senate, Shehu Sani, already expressed his condolence.

“Senator Isiaka Adeleke; a calm, principled and responsible gentleman. He represented his people with maturity, dignity and distinction. Adieu,” Mr. Sani said.
