Customs Officer Commits Suicide in Abuja

An Assistant Superintendent of Customs has allegedly taken his own life in Lungu village, Gwarinpa, Abuja.

According to sources, the man, simply identified as Christian, locked himself in the one-room apartment he shared with his brother and hung himself with a rope.

A source said that the 44-year-old man who was unmarried had recently been transferred from lagos and was staying with his brother before the incident happened.

The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, while confirming the incident, said the brother whom the deceased stayed with was at a barber’s shop when the incident happened.

Sabo revealed the deceased was confirmed dead at the Kubwa General Hospital.

“Exhibits recovered include some drugs and knife. Preliminary investigation had revealed that the deceased was suffering from depression”, he said.
