Five people have been confirmed dead after a ghastly accident between a truck and a yellow commercial bus occurred at Ojota Bus Stop, Lagos on Saturday, 8th of July, 2017.
Punch reports that the accident occurred at about 4 am when the occupants of the yellow bus were returning from a night vigil at a church. Eye witness reports also suggest that members of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Emergency Response Unit were at the accident scene where three people were rescued and rushed to the Trauma Centre Toll Gate while the five people confirmed dearod were taken to the Ikodu General Hospital Mortuary.
Confirming the incident, Adesina Tiamiyu, the General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), noted, “Investigation carried out by the ERT at the scene revealed that an articulated truck with registration number AKD 663 KF conveying 40ft container laden with plywood fell on a Volkswagen commercial bus with registration number FST 944 XR under which the passengers were trapped.
The Nigeria Police Force, LASTMA, LASAMBUS, the Lagos State Fire Service, FRSC and NSCDC were some other agencies at the scene of the accident.
