Graduating students of Victory Group of Schools, Ikeja, Lagos, have been charged not to give up on their dreams towards achieving greatness in life, this is even as the school was described as “as foundation for excellence”.
A member of the pioneer students of school, Ikeja, Engr (Mrs) Sena Daramola – an accomplished civil engineer, who is one of the distinguished old students, who graced the occasion, urged the valedictorians to be focused in their endeavours and never to see anything as impossible.
“My advice for the newly graduated students is to be focused; they shouldn’t give up on themselves or in whatever they do.
“If you don’t know how to do something, try it in many ways and whichever way that works becomes the right way, but never give up. And never see anything as impossible,” she stressed.
Speaking on her alma mater, she said: “Victory is improving. A baby of today, they say cannot be the same of yesteryears; Victory School is better, but could still get even more better.
“For the level of education, I’m sure is still impeccable, because I owe most of my achievements today to Victory High School for the solid foundation it gave me and it’s a great honour for me to be here today.”
Also speaking, Deacon Nosa James, who is a successful media consultant, attributed his success to the legacy bequeathed on him and his set by the school proprietor, Chief Christopher Olaniyan, for his discipline and principle, urging the students to consolidate on the legacy.
“The standard of the school as not fallen neither depreciated. The proprietor in this regard has done very well, because he is a disciplinarian and principle, who is excellence-driven and he has maintained that since our days way back in the 1996.
“He does his best that we all strive to be best. He is an educationist and the legacy today is felt in all of us as we have been successful in our various areas of endeavour. Sound education discipline. He kept us fully engaged with academic activities. I am glad that i passed through him.
“My message to the graduating students is that they should be hardworking focused and achieve. They have been given a solid platform to excel so they should consolidate on that,” he concluded.
In his address, the managing proprietor, Chief Olaniyan charged the students to be determined to excel and shun whatever distraction that could stall their progress and success.
“At this stage of your life you will be exposed to various types of distractions which have negative effects on you if you are not careful. You have to be focused and be determined to excel.
“Set your mind for achievement, so you work hard and be persevering. This is the crucial stage of your life and you must make the best use of it so that you could make a success of your life in future,” he said.
