Fresh facts on why Vice President Osinbajo lost at his polling unit in Victoria Garden City, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, during the last presidential and National Assembly elections have emerged.
A source revealed that Osinbajo lost to the People’s Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, owing to conspiracy and tribalism of elites in the area.
Asides PDP’s victory in VGC, Atiku Abubakar won the whole Eti-Osa Local Government Area where VGC is located.
Further checks confirmed that Eti-Osa residents voted against Osinbajo because of his inability to help them tackle the challenges of flooding in the estate or build a stadium for them.
Other problems associated with many elites voting against the vice president is not unconnected to Buhari’s policies that have adversely affected businesses across the country.
The elites, who are mostly importers, have lost several millions due to the clamp down on importation by Buhari’s government.
Osibanjo did not gain the support of the elites in VGC despite his massive campaign in the area.
Recall that during the two-month campaign, Osinbajo had street-walk campaigns and held parlour and town hall meetings.
He also met several like-minded individuals, professionals and resident associations and engaged in full discussions of developmental projects coming to the area but all his efforts proved abortive after the election.
